Sustainability? We’ve been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel.
At Hochfeldhof, we live in harmony with nature!
We believe in fostering connections – between people and nature. To ensure this bond lasts for generations, we prioritise sustainability in many aspects of our operations: on the farm, in the garden, and in our daily practices. For that, we’ve been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel. Curious about how we do it? We are happy to tell you all about it.
Your holiday with eco certification
Hochfeldhof has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management awards this label to tourism businesses that meet specific environmental standards – independently verified and based on clear, publicly available criteria. It shows you, our guest, that we take our responsibilities seriously – for our region, its resources, and for the mountain landscape around Zillertal. And you don’t just have to take our word for it; you can read about it for yourself.
What does that mean for you? A holiday where you have total peace of mind. Because there is genuine commitment behind every detail: from the farm garden to the photovoltaic system, from the local baker to the electric charging station.
Arrival
E-charging stations are available at our Hochfeldhof for guests travelling by electric car. And those who arrive by public transport can enjoy our transfer service from and to the train station.
Booking
We have opted for a booking process that is entirely electronic, and we send your guest card digitally too. This way, we’re reducing our paper usage.
Farm products
We produce a wide range of top-quality products on our farm.
Our Kaminwurzen (smoke-cured sausages) are made from the meat of our fallow deer and the prime beef comes from our suckler cow herd. Our animals enjoy about half the year grazing freely on pasture or mountain fields, and the rest of the time in generous stables. Plus, they’re only fed the best feed from our own production.
Our breakfast eggs come straight from our own free-range hens, who roam outdoors year-round and only head to the barn at night. And that freedom? Well, it definitely adds to the delicious taste of our eggs! Any extra eggs we have are carefully distributed to selected local eateries and private customers in our surroundings. Our jams are made from the fresh fruits harvested with love in our garden.
Best of all, all our guests have the opportunity to buy our farm specialities.
Energy efficiency
Thanks to our photovoltaic systems, which have a total capacity of 74 kWp, we generate around 25% of our electricity requirements ourselves (as at 2024). In addition, since 2023 we have been operating a wood chip plant that runs exclusively on locally sourced wood chips.
Herb and vegetable garden
Our farm’s garden boasts an abundance of delicious herbs and vegetables thriving in splendid variety. Every wander through the garden is a delightful exploration, uncovering new culinary treasures, and every harvest fills our kitchen with the unmatched freshness of nature.
Bread
Our baker is a local supplier (Bäckerei Dorfbäck in Stumm im Zillertal) who attaches great importance to using ingredients from the region, while completely avoiding artificial flavours and preservatives.
